Surrendering Ferrets

WE UNDERSTAND THAT STUFF HAPPENS

The Alberta Ferret Society wants you to know that we are here when it does. We know that life doesn’t always turn out the way you might want it to and that is why we are here to help make a difficult situation as stress free as possible for both you and your ferret(s).

The A.F.S. accepts all domestic ferrets regardless of age, health, temperament or reason for surrender.

You will be asked to sign a Surrender Agreement and to provide information about your ferrets likes, dislikes and previous medical history.

The A.F.S. does not use a free-standing shelter.  When a ferret is surrendered it is placed into foster care, in the home of an experienced member, until a permanent adoptive home is found.  While in foster care the A.F.S. provides for all of the ferrets needs.

The Alberta Ferret Society follows a very strict adoptions process geared to the ultimate well-being of your ferret. Once you make the decision to surrender you can enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that although you may no longer be able to provide a home for your ferret…..we can and we care!

If you need to surrender your ferret, call the AFS toll free at 1-877-FERRET-0, or in Edmonton at (780) 447-3336.  You can also contact us directly through our website.
